Duties/Responsibilities
- Carry out psychiatric evaluations and assessments to develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Manage medications by evaluating their effectiveness and side effects, prescribing them, and adjusting dosages as needed.
- Maintain detailed and updated medical records for each patient, including progress notes, treatment plans, and diagnosis codes.
- Oversee the medical documentation prepared by PMHNPs in the Idaho practice and collaborate with other mental health professionals.
- Attend treatment team meetings to update on patient progress and coordinate care.
- Participate in training and continuing education programs to stay informed about the latest in psychiatry.
Requirements
- Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry and at least two years of post-residency experience as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric facility.
- An M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
- Licensure as a physician in the applicable state, including the ability to prescribe controlled substances.
- A valid state driver’s license may be required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry, as well as current developments in the field.
- Experience in hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures.
- Ability to diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.
- Objectivity and confidentiality in handling patient information.
