Montana - Regional Psychiatrist

Duties/Responsibilities

• Carry out psychiatric evaluations and assessments to develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Manage medications by evaluating their effectiveness and side effects, prescribing them, and adjusting dosages as needed.
• Maintain detailed and updated medical records for each patient, including progress notes, treatment plans, and diagnosis codes.
• Oversee the medical documentation prepared by PMHNPs in the Idaho practice and collaborate with other mental health professionals.
• Attend treatment team meetings to update on patient progress and coordinate care.
• Participate in training and continuing education programs to stay informed about the latest in psychiatry.

Requirements

• Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry and at least two years of post-residency experience as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric facility.
• An M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
• Licensure as a physician in the applicable state, including the ability to prescribe controlled substances.
• A valid state driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry, as well as current developments in the field.
• Experience in hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures.
• Ability to diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.
• Objectivity and confidentiality in handling patient information.
