Monitor Technician - Full Time - Days

About the role

Under the direction of the Command Center Supervisor, the Monitor Technician works indirectly with all members of the nursing units, ancillary departments, and physicians to coordinate the communication of remote telemetry. The monitor technician is responsible for the distribution, monitoring, validating, and documenting of the remote telemetries. Department: Command Center – Telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients and verify physician orders prior to performing interventions or care
• Perform computer operations essential to the electronic medical record and telemetry monitoring system
• Perform telephone functions, fax/copier, and nurse call systems
• Demonstrate accuracy, skill, and timeliness in duties including documentation of clinical data into required logs and posting of clinical data into appropriate IT systems (e.g., telemetry strips)
• Understand and verify cardiac rhythms
• Communicate timely and effectively with nursing staff
• Elevate immediate patient issues to supervisor or designee
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of rhythm analysis course and pass test within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

• Experience in a healthcare setting
• Background in medical terminology

Schedule

Days shift; 12.5 hours per shift, 0.94 FTE. 12-hour schedule (CWAT-UFCSM). Full-time status.

Pay

$19 – $23 per hour.
