Monitor Tech Fulltime Nights at Carondelet St. Marys Hospital, Tucson, Arizona.
Techs perform various activities regarding electrocardiograms on patients requiring continual cardiac monitoring. They attach, connect, and operate electrodes, review patient records, monitor patients during procedures, identify and correct artifacts, edit and forward results, maintain EKG equipment and supplies, run strips, maintain telemetry documentation, notify Biomed of equipment problems, and assist in training new Monitor Techs.
- Attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electrocardiograph machine or stress test machine.
- Reviews patient's record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
- Makes sure patient is monitored during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
- Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
- Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintains EKG equipment and supplies.
- Runs a strip per department protocol.
- Maintains telemetry documentation of reported information.
- Notifies Biomed of any equipment problems.
- Assists in training new Monitor Techs.
Minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
- Completion of basic EKG examination if not already completed.
- Previous experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech or Monitor Tech Trainee in an acute healthcare setting.
- One (1) year experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech, Monitor Tech Trainee in an acute healthcare setting also preferred.
Preferred Requirements:
- Specialty areas Basic Life Support (BLS).
- AHA required.
