Monitor Tech Fulltime Nights
Job Summary
Performs various activities regarding electrocardiograms on patients requiring continual cardiac monitoring. Responsible for the set-up of telemetry on physician orders by ensuring proper placement of electrodes, running strips, and replacing batteries as needed.
Responsibilities
- Attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electrocardiograph machine or stress test machine.
- Reviews patient's record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
- Makes sure patient is monitored during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
- Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
- Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintains EKG equipment and supplies.
- Runs a strip per department protocol.
- Maintains telemetry documentation of reported information.
- Notifies Biomed of any equipment problems.
- Assists in training new Monitor Techs.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.). Completion of basic EKG examination if not already completed.
- Experience: Previous experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech or Monitor Tech Trainee or equivalent.
- Preferred Requirements: Certifications: Specialty areas Basic Life Support (BLS). - AHA required. One (1) year experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech, Monitor Tech Trainee in an acute healthcare setting also preferred.
