Responsibilities

• Observes cardiac monitor for abnormal heart rhythms, rates and pattern changes.
• Performs long range assessment and review of cardiac arrhythmias.
• Documents EKG rhythm every eight hours and documents rhythm changes as they occur with correct interpretation.
• Accurately enters patient data into the telemetry monitors, initiates patient record and notifies appropriate personnel within defined time lines.
• Ensures appropriate department, within defined timelines and in accordance with policy, receives medical records.
• Performs related duties as required.
• Responsible for the set up of telemetry on physician orders by ensuring proper placement of electrodes, running strips, and replacing batteries as needed.
• Performs general clerical duties by preparing, compiling and maintaining records in a hospital nursing unit.
• Maintains current and orderly chart files.
• Answers telephone; records and relays messages.
• Prepares routine, confidential, and/or special reports, documents, and records; assist with quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of EKG class
• Familiar with Medical Terminology
