About the Role
The Unit Tech/Monitor Tech is responsible for the organization and clerical activities of the Telemetry Monitoring unit.
Reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Communicate appropriately with staff regarding patients on telemetry monitoring.
- Gather and distribute clinical data (EKG strips) to the appropriate patient care giver.
- Document legibly.
- Maintain monitor room cleanliness.
- Have knowledge of and utilize equipment (monitors, telephone, printers).
The above statements represent the major duties and responsibilities of this role. Incumbents may be requested to perform additional job-related tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to complete an EKG course.
- Current CPR certification for BLS.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing, and walking.
- Minimal bending, stooping, and lifting.
- Work environment may be physically confining.
- Normal hearing or use of adaptive hearing devices required.
- Visual acuity required for various activities.
- Must be able to sit and utilize a PC for long periods.
- Good manual dexterity required for keyboard activities.
- Ability to work shifts as required.
