About the role

The Pathology Department is seeking a Molecular Diagnostics Technologist to work under the general supervision of the laboratory manager. This position performs both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and procedures, applying a professional level of knowledge to properly execute and analyze results, especially where results are abnormal or atypical.

Responsibilities

  • Perform both routine and complex clinical and/or research laboratory tests on different specimens, including but not limited to blood, bone marrow, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Prepare and determine the suitability of reagents following defined formulas and procedures.
  • Document and report test results.
  • Complete required logs and supporting documents.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, including routine repairs, and notify service personnel of more complex problems.
  • Perform related general duties, such as ordering supplies, performing general lab maintenance, and maintaining safety records.
  • Participate in the training of new employees, learners, and physicians on laboratory methodology.
  • Strictly comply with patient care and confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • One year of experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Molecular Biology (MB) ASCP certification.

Pay

Starting salary range: $49,200 - $86,200 annually ($60,000 targeted).

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Employee group: Full Time. FLSA Status: Exempt.
