The Role

The Molecular Technologist III plays a crucial role in specimen handling, processing, and testing at Eurofins Scientific. This position involves specimen labeling, processing, maintaining lab equipment, and performing various molecular and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard operating procedures for specimen handling and processing, ensuring accurate documentation for specimen traceability.
  • Document all corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Perform assigned TEM-PCR duties, including sample sorting, spin, decap and batch, sample transfer, template addition, elution plate prep, PCR product addition, SAPE addition, array wash, array detection, and other duties as assigned.
  • Stock laboratory with supplies, clean and decontaminate laboratory instruments and testing areas.
  • Setup and perform testing of samples for troubleshooting, clinical, and stability studies.
  • Setup and assist with validation and verification studies of laboratory tests.
  • Properly document records of studies performed, ensuring traceability.
  • Perform qPCR duties, including PCR reagent prep, extraction and hybridization reagent prep, and proper handling of instrument blocks for qPCR equipment.
  • Contribute to processing QC samples and adhere to all processes put into place by the Quality Assurance and Safety Officer.
  • Participate in the laboratory’s quality assurance plan and perform any additional duties as directed by Clinical Lab management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory is preferred.
  • Must possess proficiency with basic computer programs.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Minimum of an Associate's or Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or a Life Science such as Biology or Chemistry.
  • Laboratory certification preferred.
  • Qualify as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA rule § 493.1489.

Additional Information

This position is full-time, working Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with schedule variations and additional hours as needed.
