About the role

Location: Framingham, MA (on‑site). Type: Contract (W2). Term: 12‑months. Sanofi's contingent workforce program, FLEXT Direct, is seeking a Research Associate II for a 12‑month contract. We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented molecular biologist to join our Cell Line Development (CLD) Group, contributing to a team responsible for generating, storing, and distributing DNA plasmids in support of pipeline and technology development. As a core member of the molecular biology team, you will produce recombinant DNA plasmids essential to cell line generation, executing complex cloning strategies with precision and scientific rigor. Beyond hands‑on plasmid production, you will play a key role in plasmid and data management activities, including DNA upscaling, quality control, repository management, and cross‑functional material delivery — all within a dynamic, fast‑paced biopharmaceutical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute complex cloning strategies to generate recombinant DNA plasmids for cell line development
  • Retrieve stored DNA plasmids and fulfill requests from internal stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Manage DNA upscaling activities both in-house and in coordination with contract research organizations (CROs)
  • Perform quality control assessments on newly generated DNA batches to ensure material integrity and compliance
  • Process new DNA batches and accurately enter associated metadata into the repository and freezer tracking system
  • Deliver finished plasmid materials to requestors while maintaining thorough documentation
  • Support plasmid and data management activities across the broader CLD group
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges using sound initiative and scientific judgment
  • Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional groups to ensure seamless workflow and project alignment

Skills

  • Proficiency in advanced cloning technologies including GoldenGate, InFusion, and Gibson Assembly
  • Experience in plasmid construct design, including antibody constructs
  • Competency in agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA purification, DNA sequencing, and sequence analysis
  • Working knowledge of molecular biology software such as SnapGene or Geneious
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and data presentation abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Experience with automation, LIMS, and biological registration systems such as Genedata Biologics (preferred)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a research laboratory or biopharma/biotech company
  • Hands-on experience with recombinant DNA techniques and plasmid production workflows
  • Experience working collaboratively within cross-functional scientific teams
