Molecular Biology Research Associate

We are seeking a Molecular Biology Research Associate for a 12-week, part-time contract engagement. This hands-on bench position focuses heavily on DNA construction and molecular cloning. It offers significant project ownership, making it ideal for recent graduates, Master's-level researchers, or current graduate students looking to expand their laboratory experience. Location: Somerville, MA (On-site)Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week (Monday-Friday, fixed daily 4-hour shifts)Duration: Late September through mid-December 2026Compensation: $30.00 / hour, plus a $2,000 completion/performance incentive Responsibilities Job Responsibilities Independently execute and manage DNA assembly and molecular cloning projects.Design oligonucleotides, gene fragments, and PCR primers.Perform routine bench techniques including PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, and DNA purification.Interpret sequencing results and troubleshoot experimental anomalies.Maintain organized digital records and workflow tracking using tools like Benchling.Utilize advanced computational platforms and AI-assisted tools to refine experimental design and problem-solving.Manage project-related lab resources and ensure adherence to standard safety and laboratory protocols. Required Skills Education: Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline.Experience: Minimum of 3 months of direct, hands-on molecular biology laboratory research.Core Competencies:Proficiency in PCR techniques, gel electrophoresis, and standard cloning methods.Practical understanding of primer design and sequence verification.Comfort navigating molecular biology software platforms (e.g., Benchling).Demonstrated ability to work self-sufficiently, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot protocols.Excellent attention to detail and sound documentation practices.Work Authorization: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States (employer participates in E-Verify).
