Molding Trainer

About the role
Performs duties to instruct operators in the safe and proper methods of performing their duties to produce parts conforming to quality and performance standards. Ensures operators follow work instructions, including proper use of appropriate PPE. Capable of changeovers on all assigned plastic injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Follows process set-up sheets to ensure parts are produced to established parameters.
Responsibilities
- Instructs operators in the safe and proper operation of all injection molding machines to produce parts conforming to quality and production standards
- Performs in-process checks, tests, and gaging as required by control plans and operator instructions
- Identifies out-of-specification components and follows non-conforming product and/or hold tag procedures
- Responsible for first-piece validation for each job and ensures correct material is used
- Performs product problem-solving and corrective actions
- Works to ensure company goals are attained
- Performs process adjustments when necessary
- Completes required forms and paperwork
- Verifies quantities, lot numbers, labels, and correctness of parts
- Performs cycle counts using handheld scanner and ERP system
- Repairs minor machine problems and assists operators with minor preventative maintenance
- Completes TPM as required
- Notifies team leader and/or supervisor when any equipment or gage needs maintenance, repair, or calibration
- Fills in for absentees on work stations when needed
- Follows all safety rules and keeps the work area in a clean and orderly condition
- Fills in for Team Leader when needed
- Instructs operators on 4S program and confirms daily activities are understood and completed
- Performs other duties as necessary
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in plastic injection molding
Skills
- Use of hand tools, crane, grinders, calipers, and gages
- Use of a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and/or a hand or powered pallet jack
- Use of a computer and typical office software
- Use of a handheld scanner
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment in assigned area
- Must maintain an excellent attendance record
Physical Requirements
- Works in a factory environment with noise from the manufacturing environment
- Exposure to moving equipment, parts, and electrical shock
- Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment
- Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds
