Fabrication Trainer

Key Responsibilities

  • Train new hires and cross-functional employees on fabrication processes, equipment, tools, and standardized work procedures.
  • Develop, update, and deliver training materials, including job instruction documents and visual aids.
  • Evaluate trainee competency through hands-on assessments, performance evaluations, and formal certification sign-offs.
  • Reinforce compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
  • Provide coaching on best practices, troubleshooting methods, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure training aligns with current processes and operational requirements.

Production Support

  • Perform fabrication duties in accordance with standard production requirements when not engaged in training activities.
  • Support production throughput and schedule commitments during peak demand or staffing shortages.
  • Maintain full compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards while performing direct labor.
  • Serve as a technical resource and fabrication subject matter expert on the production floor.

Compensation

This position is eligible for a trainer premium in addition to the base hourly wage. Employees will receive a $2.00 per hour premium for all hours worked in the Fabrication Trainer role, in addition to their base hourly wage. This premium applies for the duration of time the employee is actively serving as a Trainer. If the employee is reassigned to a Fabricator position, the premium will be removed and pay will be adjusted accordingly.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in fabrication operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and instructional abilities.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a training, lead, or mentoring role.
  • Familiarity with standardized work processes, lean manufacturing principles, or continuous improvement methodologies.
