Job Duties
- Install, remove, and secure molds in injection molding or die-casting machines according to production requirements.
- Perform mold changes in a timely, safe, and efficient manner to minimize downtime.
- Set machine parameters, conduct test runs, and make adjustments to optimize part quality and cycle times.
- Inspect and clean molds before and after installation to ensure operational readiness.
- Cook with the maintenance team for mold and equipment repairs or preventive maintenance.
- Monitor production runs to ensure quality standards and troubleshoot molding issues such as flashing, short shots, or warping.
- Document mold changes, setups, and process parameters accurately in maintenance or production logs.
- Assist in training operators and junior mold setters in safe and proper mold handling techniques.
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and proper use of lifting equipment.
- Maintain organized and clean work areas, including mold storage and staging zones.
Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have 2–5 years of experience as a mold setter in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Must be proficient in mathematics, read and understand instructions.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to achieve lift truck and crane certification within 30 days in position.
- Overhead crane experience preferred.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics with past maintenance and mechanical experience preferred.
- Capable of working in conditions that are oily, greasy, in close distance of heated molds, and in cramped areas under molds.
- Preference given to applicable mechanical, impact wrench and hand tool experience.
- Ability to follow work instructions.
- Knowledge of simple electrical troubleshooting an asset.
