About the role
This position is part of Superior Tooling, based out of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Superior Tooling is a fully owned subsidiary of SHL Advantec. We specialize in building plastic injection molds, blow molds for medical industry, bottle molding, and precision machine work. We are an ISO 9001 Certified Business and AMBA Member. We are a privately owned company with over 39 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Use sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency
- Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, and micrometers
- Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs, and dies
- Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts
- Inspect completed tools and dies for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality
- Repair dies, molds, and tools when needed; disassemble molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures, then reassemble when repaired
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools, inserts, cavities and core blocks that are part of the mold build
- Capable of utilizing CNC lathe, grinders, mold repair and inspections
- File and finish workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly
- Select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in molding making
- Excellent visual accuracy
- Experience in tool and die making (preferred)
- Three to five years of experience in tool and die making (preferred)
- Experienced / Capable of machining on Wire, Sinker, Grinding, CNC Lathe, 5-Axis hard milling equipment (preferred)
- Experience in building new Injection Molds (preferred)
