About the role
As a Mold Maintenance Apprentice in Mission, TX, you’ll support our operations by maintaining and setting up molds for production while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Remove and install molds safely using cranes, hoists, pallet jacks, tool carts, and forklifts.
- Connect water lines, knockout bars, hydraulic/air lines, and hot runner controllers.
- Install end-of-arm tooling (EOAT).
- Participate in SMED activities and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate mold and tool locations using E-maint for each job.
- Prepare molds for production runs and fabricate hoses/manifolds as needed.
- Troubleshoot setup-related issues to support efficient production startup.
- Verify and address leaks during mold setup and operation.
- Maintain tools and equipment required for mold changes.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on machines, clean molds, and address mechanical or operational defects.
- Follow and support the tool schedule plan to meet production requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in line with 5S principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting maintenance, tooling, or process departments.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification in machining or industrial mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in an injection molding environment.
- Familiarity with connecting and troubleshooting water, hydraulic, and air lines, as well as hot runner controllers.
- Experience using material handling equipment (cranes, hoists, pallet jacks, tool carts) preferred.
- Proficient in reading, interpreting, and understanding electrical and electronic diagrams and schematics.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Flexible schedule; ability to rotate shifts (day or night) and work overtime as needed.
