About the role
The Modern Workplace Engineer maintains, develops, and propagates end-user systems, primarily based on Microsoft products with a focus on Microsoft 365.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the Microsoft 365 environment, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to resolve service interruptions and prevent recurrence.
- Fulfill license requests according to the approval process.
- Perform system health monitoring and track upcoming platform changes to assist with user change management.
- Conduct routine monitoring and analysis, including audit log reports, system/storage utilization, site usage, growth reports, and site collection quota settings.
- Operate and manage teleconference systems, device management, mail systems, and shared cloud directories.
- Participate in validating on-premise and cloud product deployments.
- Serve as an active member of O365 tenant administration and act as technical lead for projects from intake to closure.
- Coordinate upgrades and patching where applicable.
- Propose improvements to end-user systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of related IT experience.
- Experience administering O365 and Active Directory.
- Experience opening cases with Microsoft.
- Microsoft certifications in the Office 365 area, maintained periodically.
- Experience with SCCM/Intune is a benefit.
- General knowledge of networking (IP, DNS, SMTP).
- Self-motivated professional with strong multitasking, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Available for occasional off-hours emergency support for critical applications.
- Ability to interact and communicate at all organizational levels.
- Ability to travel.
