Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Engineer

About the role
We are seeking a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Engineer to work in a collaborative teaming and peer review environment, studying and analyzing complex problems in the Space domain from our Chantilly, VA location.
Responsibilities
- Perform orbital mechanics modeling & simulation (M&S) including orbit determination, orbital maneuvering, and spacecraft flight dynamics.
- Perform link budget, latency, and throughput analyses for RF and optical space-based relay and space-to-ground telecommunications.
- Perform assessments of satellite payload sensor phenomenology (optics/radar/RF) and product quality.
- Assess end-to-end system designs against Required Performance Parameters and identify required Technical Performance Measures.
- Create MS&A supporting documentation including terms of reference, study plans, modeling assumptions, data input/output, analytic results, visualizations, and conclusions.
- Advise government and contractor teams on forward-looking and follow-on studies and analyses to incorporate into a roadmap of future analytic planning.
Requirements
- TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.
- B.S. in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) with an engineering discipline.
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience using one or more of the following: C++, Python, R, SQL, PostgreSQL, Linux, MATLAB, VBA, or STK.
- Engineering analysis experience (collecting, organizing, analyzing data).
- Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to internal and external customers.
Qualifications (Desired)
- Experience with free space optical and optical space-to-ground systems.
- Experience integrating MS&A and MBSE data sets using SysML.
- Experience developing and maintaining MBSE models.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
- Experience in the development and maintenance of MS&A tools and software.
Pay
Expected salary range: $125,000 - $162,000 per year. Placement within the range is determined by qualifications, job-related criteria, experience, internal equity, and market considerations.
