Modeling and Simulation Engineer 3

About the Role

Support the development of digital twin models and simulation environments for autonomous underwater and surface vehicles. Apply knowledge of hydrodynamics, virtual models, and vehicle systems to enable advanced autonomy testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and test virtual models of vehicles, sensors, and equipment in hydrodynamic simulations.
• Create virtual worlds for mission simulation and support hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing.
• Enhance modeling standards and develop advanced software for autonomy behaviors, path planning, and control.
• Perform operational and mission effectiveness analyses, trade studies, and provide decision support.
• Support system integration, visualization, and training model development.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; relevant experience varies with education level.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, MATLAB, and GUI development.
• Strong understanding of ocean/marine engineering, hydrodynamics, and vessel systems.
• Experience with hardware/software integration, data verification, and communication protocols.
• Knowledge of system modeling, mathematical concepts, robotic systems, ROS2, and machine learning tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
