About the role
This is a Hybrid position and will require onsite work in Towson, MD three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Create robust, well documented electric motor models using model-based engineering tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Twin Builder).
- Develop and implement calibration processes for electromagnetic and thermal models of electric motors.
- Simulate and test (verify) these motor models to find issues in early design processes.
- Modify electro-magnetic design of the motor based on early learning to correct the issues before physical prototyping.
- Establish and keep workflows and best practices for electrical system modeling within the team.
- Generate robust motor and electrical part library that can be used by System level modelling teams.
- Mentor and train engineers in model-based design and controls engineering.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and research institutions to drive technological advancements.
- Document control strategies, simulation results, and validation processes specific to Electrical System.
- Support certification and regulatory compliance for global deployment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field (PhD preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in electromagnetic and thermal design of motors, with ability in model-based design.
- Proven experience with 2D and 3D finite element analysis tools for motor design.
- Experience in modeling 3-phase inverters, including thermal aspects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical system thermal modeling using lumped parameter circuits.
- Ability in MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development methodologies.
- Familiarity with MIL, SIL, and HIL testing environments.
- Experience with field-oriented control methods for brushless motor control (highly preferred).
- Knowledge of modelling of Lithium-ion battery system is a plus.

Pay
The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $90,000.00 - 144,900.00 USD Annual per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
