Job Description

The Mock Trial Adjunct Instructor serves as the primary faculty leader, instructor, and administrator for the university’s competitive mock trial program and affiliated student organization. This position is responsible for academic instruction, curriculum development, student coaching and development, competition management, budget administration, compliance with American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) regulations, and tournament hosting.

  • Instruction and Academic Oversight: Teach CJC 384 including designing and delivering lectures, developing course materials, developing and grading assignments, etc.
  • Program Leadership and Student Development: Serve as Faculty Advisor for the Mock Trial student organization including mentoring student leaders, maintaining standards of professionalism, coordinating practices, scrimmages, workshops, etc.
  • Competition and Tournament Management: Oversee mock trial competition preparation; coordinate logistics and compliance requirements; plan and manage university-hosted tournaments; supervise students during competitions.
  • Budgeting, Outreach, and Administration: Manage program budget; work with the School of Humanities and Social Sciences development officers for fundraising and alumni outreach; maintain program records and compliance with university and AMTA requirements.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required to teach undergraduate courses. We also require significant experience/training relevant to the level of the class and the content area being taught.

A Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.), or Ph.D. is preferred.

Other Information

This is a part-time (approximately 19.50 hours per week), non-benefit eligible, unranked non-tenure track position.

The appointment period is for one semester with consideration for reappointment.
