About the role
Buro Happold is a global leader in sustainable design, engineering, and advisory services. The Mobility Grad/Consultant position involves supporting projects focused on transportation planning, mobility strategy, urban design, and infrastructure advisory. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to innovative projects that shape cities, communities, and public spaces.
Responsibilities
- Mobility Planning: Contribute to a wide range of mobility projects, including bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, transportation demand management (TDM), transit-oriented development (TOD), micromobility, freight and logistics, parking studies, traffic analyses, and multimodal transportation strategies.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to support project recommendations, policy development, and planning strategies.
- GIS & Data Visualization: Utilize GIS, mapping, and analytical tools to evaluate transportation systems and communicate findings through compelling visualizations and graphics.
- Project Deliverables: Prepare reports, presentations, maps, technical memoranda, diagrams, models, and other client-facing deliverables.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support collaboration with clients, public agencies, community organizations, advocacy groups, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Urban Mobility Solutions: Help develop innovative transportation strategies that support sustainability, resilience, accessibility, and placemaking objectives.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with planners, engineers, architects, economists, and urban designers to deliver integrated project outcomes.
- Research & Innovation: Stay informed on emerging mobility trends, technologies, policies, and best practices that influence transportation systems and urban development.
- Climaetl & Equity Focus: Support projects that advance climate action, transportation equity, accessibility, and community-centered planning goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Design, Transportation Planning, Geography, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in transportation planning, mobility consulting, urban planning, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience using GIS software to perform geospatial analyses, develop maps, and visualize transportation and planning data.
- Experience with CAD software and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, to communicate complex ideas effectively through graphics and visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with Rhino or other 3D design software is encouraged (preferred) for developing visualizations and planning concepts.
- Strong quantitative, qualitative, and systems-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex transportation and urban challenges.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Interest in working across disciplines and collaborating with planners, engineers, architects, economists, and policy experts.
- Understanding of and interest in how transportation planning and infrastructure influence climate resilience, social equity, accessibility, and community outcomes.
- Passion for creating thoughtful mobility solutions and a strong desire to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful projects.

Pay
Salary range of $77,000 - $100,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience.
