Mobile Tire Technician

About the role

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for properly installing and inspecting tires on company tractors and trailers on customer sites and rail yards. The role may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions or across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends, with the possibility of overtime. Full-time attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Install and inspect tires on tractors and trailers according to company guidelines
• Observe all company safety requirements and OSHA standards while at customer facilities or rail yards
• Organize and maintain tire inventory for trucks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to pass J.B. Hunt standards for operation of a company vehicle
• Basic tools are required to successfully perform this role; these tools must be supplied by the employee in most locations (employees without their own tools may obtain them through the toolbox purchase program)

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 6 to 12 months of tire-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team (with no direct supervision)
• Ability to multitask and exercise discretion
• Basic deductive reasoning skills
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient active listening, organizational, and time management skills
• Self-motivation
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements of the job, including lifting above 50 lbs., bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire, including protective gear/PPE
• Ability to make time-sensitive decisions

Pay

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $21.62 and $24.82 per hour. Compensation factors that may affect starting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans.
