Mobile Technician II
Job Summary
About the role
The role involves performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. It requires troubleshooting and repairing ABS systems, operating a mobile service truck, assisting with onboarding and mentoring trainees, and adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
- Operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
- Aid with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
- Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
- Document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
- Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
- Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
- Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- Must have a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
- Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Forklift certification and experience
- EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Manage multiple priorities
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Physical requirements: lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds
- Work attire: appropriate protective gear/PPE

Pay Range
The expected starting pay range for this position is between $27.85 - $41.78.
