About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mobile Engineer to join our Unsecured Installment team. This role is pivotal in strengthening our mobile platform, particularly as we prepare for the launch of a new Android application. The ideal candidate will serve as the senior technical owner for mobile development, operating as both a React Native specialist and a native Android expert. You will lead the technical direction, architecture, and execution of mobile solutions, ensuring high performance, scalability, and user experience excellence. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence product strategy, mentor engineering teams, and drive impactful projects within a fast-paced, innovative environment. The role is highly visible and requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to technical leadership, capable of translating ambitious business goals into pragmatic technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary mobile engineer and React Native specialist for the Unsecured Installment team, elevating code quality, scalability, and development velocity.
- Lead the Android development efforts to deliver a successful Android app launch aligned with business objectives.
- Define and evolve the technical architecture for the mobile platform, ensuring a robust foundation across React Native and native Android surfaces.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate roadmaps into durable mobile solutions.
- Conduct technical reviews, provide mentorship, and promote engineering best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Post-launch, maintain and enhance the mobile stack by applying broad React Native knowledge alongside native Android expertise.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges, optimize performance, and ensure a seamless user experience across platforms.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with extensive hands-on experience in mobile application development.
- Proficiency in React Native and TypeScript, with a strong understanding of cross-platform mobile development.
- Deep native Android expertise in Kotlin and/or Java, with experience launching and maintaining production Android applications.
- Proven track record leading cross-team mobile initiatives, platform migrations, or new product launches.
- Experience developing consumer-facing mobile products at scale, with a focus on performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture ownership, mentorship, and influence across engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in ambiguous, high-visibility environments.
