Mobile Service Field Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for a high-energy leader to drive our Mobile Service program. This is a consultative, hands-on role combining sales coaching, change management, and technical training. You will work directly with dealership owners and technicians to modernize automotive service, improve profitability, and enhance customer experience.

The role is split into three key areas:

  • 50% Business Growth & Sales: Consult with Dealer Principals and Service Managers to build a profitable business model, sell the vision, and overcome objections.
  • 25% Change Management: Implement new processes, analyze KPIs, and fix inefficiencies in dealership operations.
  • 25% Hands-On Technical Training: Demonstrate procedures in Mobile Units and train technicians in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Mobile Service implementation, sales, operations, and workflow process mapping.
  • Deliver technical and non-technical training at dealerships, virtually, and in other venues within your assigned territory. Topics include:
    • Mobile Service unit launch support and discovery
    • Mobile Service unit systems training
    • Vehicle service and repair procedures
    • Mobile Service demand generation
    • Inspection-based sales and customer satisfaction initiatives
  • Instruct Technicians on proper vehicle lifting procedures, oil extraction/oil change processes, and vehicle checkup procedures.
  • Support and conduct non-technical training, including:
    • Building rapport with customers
    • Active listening techniques
    • Professional, high-integrity sales training to improve customer experience and increase Mobile Service department revenue
  • Assist dealership management with developing and executing go-to-market plans.
  • Observe dealership processes, provide root cause analysis, action planning, and training to improve performance with proven ROI strategies.
  • Monitor KPIs for all dealerships in your territory and provide counsel to management to achieve sales targets.
  • Ensure a robust parts stocking strategy to support Mobile Service operations, including developing parts stocking plans for planned repairs and additional service opportunities.
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining Mobile Service Technicians and Coordinators.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of customer-facing experience in the automotive industry.
  • Passionate, resilient, and persuasive with the ability to engage every level at the dealership and share best practices.
  • Willingness to travel 80% of the time (both driving and flying).

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding field role requiring you to demonstrate and train Mobile Service Van repair processes and procedures. You must be able to:

  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling under vehicles or reaching into engine bays.
  • Conduct van discovery training, frequently moving parts, tools, and equipment often weighing 10-50 lbs.
  • Work in outdoor environments with varied temperatures and inclement weather alongside technicians.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry, with service in an aftermarket or dealership environment.
  • Retail automotive experience.
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, capable of commanding a room of 20 people or leading a 1-on-1 meeting with an owner.

Skills

  • Wide-ranging background in the automotive industry with corporate and retail knowledge.
  • Knowledge of automotive service tools and equipment.
  • Ability to train Technicians on Mobile Service tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of basic automotive systems to effectively communicate with technicians and Coordinators.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Service Sales Process and Techniques.
  • Ability to deliver sales training to Mobile Service Coordinators and Advisors.
  • Rich experience in automotive training and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in program leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Exceptional collaboration and persuasion skills.
