About the role

The Mobile School Bus Mechanic will be responsible for vehicle maintenance and repair services at customer's location.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to clients' locations to diagnose vehicle issues and perform necessary repairs, including oil changes, brake replacements, and engine repairs.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition, such as tire rotations and fluid checks.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing detailed explanations of the vehicles' condition, required services, and cost estimates.
  • Maintain the mobile mechanic’s vehicle and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and ready for use.
  • Keep accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions for future reference and billing purposes.
  • Show strong knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle types, including natural gas, diesel, propane, and electric engines.
  • Have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Display excellent communication skills to interact with clients and explain complex mechanical issues in layman's terms.
  • Be capable of performing physical tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
  • Hold a valid CDL and driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel independently to various job sites.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have completed a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or a related field.
  • Have two or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Hold a state inspection license and proficiency in hydraulics.
  • Work primarily outdoors and on the road, providing services at various locations, which may involve working irregular hours to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL & driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel independently to various job sites.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or related field.
  • Two plus years of related experience preferred.
  • State inspection license / hydraulics.
