Position Overview
Trilab Health is seeking a highly dependable, flexible, and patient-focused Mobile Phlebotomist / Float Phlebotomist to support our growing operations throughout the Chicagoland area. This is a critical operational role responsible for providing phlebotomy coverage across multiple client locations, assisting with same-day staffing needs, and ensuring uninterrupted patient services when scheduled phlebotomists are absent or when additional support is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Specimen Collection:
- Perform venipuncture, capillary collections, urine collections, and other specimen collection procedures.
- Verify patient identity and accurately complete all required documentation.
- Ensure specimens are labeled, processed, stored, and transported according to laboratory protocols.
- Maintain excellent patient care standards while creating a positive patient experience.
- Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and company compliance requirements.
- Mobile Coverage & Operations Support:
- Travel daily to multiple client locations throughout the Chicagoland area.
- Provide coverage for call-offs, PTO requests, staffing shortages, and emergency operational needs.
- Serve as a float resource across Trilab Health client accounts and facilities.
- Respond professionally to last-minute schedule adjustments when operationally necessary.
- Maintain communication with supervisors regarding arrival times, site issues, and operational concerns.
- Client Relations:
- Represent Trilab Health professionally at all client facilities.
- Build positive working relationships with nurses, facility administrators, physicians, and healthcare staff.
- Escalate client concerns and operational issues promptly to management.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism at all times.
- Administrative & Compliance Duties:
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and notify management of shortages.
- Participate in required trainings and competency assessments.
- Ensure company vehicles (if applicable) and equipment are maintained appropriately.
What Makes This Role Different?
- This is not a traditional single-site phlebotomy position.
- The Mobile Phlebotomist serves as a key member of Trilab Health's field operations team and may:
- Cover multiple facilities in a single day.
- Travel extensively throughout the Chicagoland area.
- Support urgent staffing needs.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Be assigned to different locations based on business needs.
- Reliability and attendance are critical to success in this role.
- The ability to adapt to changing schedules and provide dependable coverage directly impacts patient care and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Required:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Chicagoland area.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Preferred:
- National Phlebotomy Certification.
- Experience working in treatment centers, physician offices, hospitals, or reference laboratories.
- Experience working in a mobile or float phlebotomy role.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and laboratory information systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout healthcare facilities for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to drive for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
- Manual dexterity required to perform specimen collection procedures.
- Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to infectious materials and hazardous substances.
