Tasks and Responsibilities
- Drive personal vehicle to client facilities (nursing homes) as directed.
- Follow established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples.
- Identify patients according to TridentCare phlebotomy policy before drawing.
- Label, prepare, and transport specimens correctly, including completing requisitions.
- Plan and organize draw schedules, maintaining priority of patients.
- Complete logs, time sheets, and other required records neatly and accurately.
- Work cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory, and courier departments.
- Maintain equipment in good working order and report issues promptly.
- Answer company-issued mobile device promptly and be available for future assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Current clinical licensure, if required by State.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to laboratories.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal, and specimen decontamination.
- Understanding of specimen preservation, patient preparation, and procedures.
- Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance.
- Vehicle in good condition suitable for daily driving.
- Good driving record.
- Able to work under minimal supervision and maintain accurate time sheet records.
- Knowledge of resident rights, patient care, and patient rights to refuse.
- Ability to draw blood from various patient conditions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills with clients, patients, public, and staff.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Capable of taking directions and conducting oneself professionally.
