Job Summary
About the role
J.B. Hunt is seeking a Mobile Technician II to join our team. This role involves performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt equipment, including tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems
- Operate the mobile service truck and maintain its inventory
- Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
- Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
- Document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
- Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
- Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
- Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision
Requirements
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- Demonstrated skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
- Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
- Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes, with 1 year experience conducting inspections
- Welding certification
- Forklift certification and experience
- EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Manage multiple priorities
- Work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
