Job Summary

About the role

J.B. Hunt is seeking a Mobile Technician II to join our team. This role involves performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt equipment, including tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems
  • Operate the mobile service truck and maintain its inventory
  • Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
  • Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
  • Document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
  • Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
  • Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
  • Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision

Requirements

  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
  • Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
  • Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
  • Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
  • DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes, with 1 year experience conducting inspections
  • Welding certification
  • Forklift certification and experience
  • EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
  • Manage multiple priorities
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Use time and resources efficiently and effectively
  • Physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
  • Wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
