Responsibilities
- Work in the field supporting fleet operations by helping maintain safe, compliant, and reliable equipment across the enterprise.
- Reduce downtime, support crews in the field, and ensure company equipment stays operational and repair-ready.
- Perform routine scheduled preventive maintenance on off-road equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using approved diagnostic tools.
- Complete minor to moderate repairs on company fleet assets.
- Identify and report safety or compliance concerns related to equipment.
- Document all field service work through internal work order systems.
- Coincide with Fleet Coordinators on repair scheduling and shop assignments.
- Support fleet-related projects, equipment upgrades, and operational initiatives.
- Aid operations teams with out-of-service units to reduce downtime.
- Monitor and troubleshoot telematics and dashcam hardware.
- Train crew-level leadership on operator-level maintenance practices.
- Support cost savings initiatives and warranty recovery opportunities.
- Travel frequently to field locations and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Follow all company safety standards, OEM guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mobile mechanic, equipment technician, or similar maintenance role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently in field environments with limited supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Experience using computers, handheld devices, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Basic mechanical tools and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Professionalism and ability to build trust with field teams, leadership, and vendors.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and travel demands.
- Experience supporting construction or utility service vehicles.
- OEM diagnostic software experience.
- CDL license.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking and writing skills.
- Lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Walk on uneven terrain and around active job sites.
- Reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb into fleet vehicles or equipment.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Safely operate tools, handheld devices, and diagnostic equipment.
- Majority of work is performed outdoors and in the field.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
- Frequent exposure to changing weather and environmental conditions.
- Combination of field and office-based responsibilities.
