Mobile Equipment Technician

A mobile equipment mechanic ensures all mobile equipment is safely and efficiently maintained to support operations and maximize uptime for product production.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all mobile equipment
• Assist in developing and completing preventive maintenance (PM) for mobile equipment
• Act as a resource for the maintenance team during down days and shutdowns
• Interface with operators to address issues, including reviewing daily logbooks, SAP, and email
• Manage the mobile equipment SAP work order backlog
• Coordinate with planners to schedule mobile equipment repairs at optimal times
• Collaborate with other crafts and operators to improve mobile equipment uptime and reliability
• Review action logs daily and work with planners to resolve items in your area
• Investigate root causes of equipment failure and recommend long-term fixes
• Assist in creating and maintaining area resources (prints, manuals, job plans, tools, spare parts, etc.)
• Enter work requests for required follow-up work
• Complete assigned work orders, PMs, and predictive maintenance (PdM) activities based on priority
• Participate in area project work
• Complete safety work orders promptly based on priority
• Wear proper PPE at all times as required
• Maintain a clean and organized shop, office, and work areas
• Be aware of all personnel working in the area
• Uphold responsible environmental stewardship in all business areas
• Complete LASER reports for any upset condition or procedure deviation
• Perform regular housekeeping, especially during downtime
• Actively participate in and contribute to the safety program
• Report all safety incidents, including near misses
• Know the location and proper use of fire equipment

Requirements

• 3 years of vehicle or mobile equipment repair experience
• 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience with mobile equipment hydraulics
• 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience with mobile equipment electrical systems
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, accessories, and components used on heavy mobile vehicles
• 5+ years of working experience (knowledge in composite panel manufacturing preferred)
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work in and motivate a team
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Hands-on approach; ability to lead by example

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around heavy equipment
• Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch for equipment inspection and maintenance
• Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
• Ability to perform physical tasks involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects
• Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels, and varying temperatures

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations
• Physical activity, including standing, climbing, and lifting, is required
• Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• May include irregular hours, such as nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties for emergencies
