Mobile Engineer

CBRE is looking for Building Engineers to support several facilities in the Elmira, NY area, performing repairs and maintenance on building systems, industrial equipment, and grounds. This role involves extensive daily travel within the Elmira area and requires living within a designated radius of the job site.

About the role

As a Mobile Building Engineer, you will provide support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. This role is part of CBRE’s Engineering and Technical Services function, focusing on keeping facility and building systems operational and compliant with applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repairs to mechanical, industrial, plumbing, structural, life safety, and control systems to ensure facility and building systems meet applicable standards.
• Review assigned work orders, estimate time and materials needed for repairs, and maintain inventory of supplies and tools.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of building machinery and systems; oversee repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
• Conduct inspections of building and industrial systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure equipment operates within design capabilities and meets environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Operate company-issued vehicles in the execution of daily work responsibilities.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
• Coach others and share expertise within your job discipline while collaborating across related teams.
• Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE’s RISE values, and work to build consensus and reach agreements.
• Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your team and related teams.
• Work within broad guidelines and policies, and explain difficult or sensitive information as needed.

Requirements

• Currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of four (4) years of proven experience as a building engineer.
• Universal EPA license required; mobile maintenance experience highly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks.
• Certification in two or more of the following: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair, as well as CFC Certification.

Skills

• Commercial and industrial maintenance experience, including mechanical (overhead doors), electrical (3-phase, lighting/ballast), and plumbing.
• Knowledge of Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA 10 is a plus.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset and the ability to analyze solutions using technical experience and judgment.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Pay

The minimum hourly rate for the Mobile Engineer position is $33.00 per hour, and the maximum hourly rate is $32.70 per hour. Compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
