About the Role
Cox Fleet is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. This role involves working independently in a mobile/field environment, managing parts inventory, and maintaining a company-issued service truck.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, engine, transmission, and more.
- Inspect and test defective equipment using diagnostic tools.
- Road test vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck.
- Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve issues.
- Document work performed, parts used, and findings using the company’s TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and timely.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or a combination of education and experience (e.g., degree/certification beyond HS or 5 years’ experience).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license and be at least 21 years old.
- Maintain a safe driving record and Driver Qualification File.
Qualifications
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification (required within 18 months).
- Preferred certifications: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, and 608/609.

Pay
Hourly pay rate: $29.38 - $44.09/hour. The rate may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Position may include additional compensation through bonuses or incentives.
Schedule
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday.
