Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-road and customer on-site maintenance services by troubleshooting, diagnosing and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy-duty equipment.
  • Run diagnostic tests and analyze results.
  • Repair or replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Determine unit condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying deficiencies.
  • Read schematics for electrical and air systems.
  • Develop technical skills through training opportunities.
  • Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications; make necessary adjustments if required.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the mobile service truck.

Requirements

  • Three years of actual truck repair experience.
  • Heavy equipment dealership experience is helpful; two years or more preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate or ability to obtain.
  • A full complement of tools required for diesel equipment repair including wrenches and sockets to 1 ¼”, 3/8” and ½” drive air tools, floor creeper and a roll-around tool cabinet.

Physical Demands

Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers. Ability to drive a vehicle, lift, push or pull objects of various shapes, sizes and weights, up to 100 pounds. Safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the essential job duties. Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time. Use a telephone and computer.

Environmental Demands

Primarily outdoor work. High noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.

Pay

Pay Range: $20.00 – $50.00 per hour based upon level of skill and experience. Night shift, weekend shift, and lead/mentor differential pay available.
