Mobile Diesel Mechanic

About the role
As a Mobile Diesel Mechanic at Truck Centers, Inc., you'll be a key player in providing exceptional on-site repairs and fleet maintenance for our customers. Working at customer locations or out in the field, you'll handle diagnostics, inspections, repairs, and part replacements, following our standards, OEM specifications, and warranty guidelines. This position works Monday-Friday during daytime hours but requires availability for customers as needed outside of normal hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance such as filling tanks, checking oil, performing inspections, and ensuring your vehicle is stocked with the tools and parts necessary for efficient repair and maintenance.
- Complete repair tasks with precision and efficiency, maintaining high standards as per OEM, warranty, and company guidelines.
- Use repair orders, diagnostic tools, and problem-solving skills to identify issues and execute effective repair plans, bringing vehicles back to optimal condition.
- Repair key truck systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, and electronics, covering both general and complex repairs.
- Apply certified expertise, including specialized DTNA training and knowledge of engines, transmissions, and vendor product lines, to complete repairs and installations accurately.
- Document diagnostic findings, repair progress, and work performed using the Dealer Management System and Service Notes for clear communication with customers and the Service office, and for smooth warranty processing.
- Assess warranty claim status and complete necessary documentation and steps for successful warranty recovery.
- Conduct road tests to ensure repairs resolve customer concerns and meet quality standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certificate from a diesel tech training program preferred, or at least 10 years of hands-on experience with heavy-duty truck service in a shop setting.
- Valid driver’s license and must meet insurance requirements.
- Class A CDL with an air brake endorsement is a plus.
- HVAC certification and certifications with Cummins IS Series, Allison Transmission, Caterpillar engines, Eaton, and Meritor are preferred.
- Welding and fabrication skills are essential.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, commitment to quality work, and dedication to outstanding customer service.
- Must be independent, resourceful, and have excellent time management skills.
- Must participate in a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Ability to work in diverse environments (dealership, customer facilities, roadside) and repeatedly lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
