About the role
The Mobile Building Engineer operates, monitors, and maintains complex building systems with a focus on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, involving a higher level of troubleshooting and independent problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems independently.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on critical building systems.
- Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records on building equipment.
- Manage service contractors during routine and emergency repairs.
- Conduct thorough inspections and proactively report deficiencies; ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and tracked.
- Follow company safety protocols and use PPE for all tasks; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations; report hazards immediately and participate in safety audits.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies; handle urgent tenant service requests and support recovery efforts during severe weather and system outages.
- Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable building operations.
- Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills; provide guidance to junior technicians; participate in professional development programs.
- Develop advanced proficiency with HVAC and building automation systems (BAS) and familiarity with fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of job-related experience or commensurate certification/trade experience.
- Engineering and trade licenses required per local, state, or national requirements.
- CFC Certification preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with HVAC and building automation systems (BAS); familiarity with fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook and laptop/phone applications for work order systems, email, and training platforms.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
