About the role

Join the Avis Budget Group team supporting Budget Truck operations. In this role, you will perform mechanical repairs on a diverse fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks across multiple brands, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and available to support customer businesses. This position includes mobile repair responsibilities, where you may travel to diagnose and resolve issues on-site to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs on cargo vans and box trucks with minimal supervision, including preventive maintenance, oil and fluid services, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Conduct warranty-related repairs based on your skill level.
  • Travel to vehicle locations for mobile repairs to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Drive Budget Trucks on public roads as needed for repairs or transport.
  • Work on newer vehicles across multiple manufacturers, applying diesel and medium-duty expertise to reduce downtime and improve reliability.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C; CDL may be required depending on location).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing mechanical repairs and diagnostics on medium-duty or heavy-duty equipment.
  • At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year.
  • Working knowledge across ASE areas, including Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel.
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical clearance.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in a mechanical shop environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive and diesel repair.
  • Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit, kneel, enter, exit, and drive vehicles.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred.
