About the role

This role serves as the Area Market Sector Leader for the MOKS Area, focusing on setting vision and direction for expanding aviation services to both current and potential clients. The position involves client management and development, pursuit championing, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as client manager and project manager for future assignments and pursuits with key clients in the area.
  • Identify and develop project opportunities, serve as a pursuit champion, and act as a resource for HDR pursuits.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium-sized projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
  • Assist the Area Business Group Manager to deliver services within the Aviation Market Sector.
  • Take on Project Management Assignments that make sense for this leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in aviation planning and/or engineering.
  • If an engineer, maintain engineering registration with Area states.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Assess the Area’s marketplace and determine the best business approach to win and secure contracts.
  • Work cross-sector with other market sectors as well as other market sectors in other business groups.
  • Help develop and set Aviation Market Sector Strategy for HDR.
  • Promote the marketing and delivery of all HDR services to clients while working with our client managers.
  • Work with Area Business Group Managers and other leaders on development and delivery of area and market sector initiatives and goals.
  • Drive client development and pursuit processes based on proven capture techniques.
  • Lead selected pursuits through client relationship development and/or through development of strategy and participation in pursuit activities.
  • Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations at local, area and national levels.
  • Identify key investments (acquisitions and technology) that will maintain or drive HDR into industry leadership positions.
  • Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations.
  • Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations.
  • Staff Development Responsibilities – The position will seek opportunities to enhance our practices so that we will best perform within the marketplace to win new work and to provide opportunities for staff growth and development. They will also lead and/or assist with the identification and recruitment of prospective future market sector employees.
  • Assume responsibility for coordination within the Area and support of work-sharing among departments.
  • Work with the Area, business class directors and practice groups to drive technical excellence and coordinate technical staff to support the program and marketing efforts.
  • Work with the Area Business Development Leader and Area Management teams to coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist local leadership as necessary with local hires.
  • Identify resource gaps and support talent management and recruiting.
  • Support to Operations – The position will assist the Area Business Group Manager to deliver services within the Aviation Market Sector. Key responsibilities consist of helping to drive client management, monitoring and taking action regarding market sector profit and loss, ensuring project delivery and supporting the QA/QC program.

Qualifications
