Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of laboratory tests involving numerous steps and techniques.
  • Uses professional judgement and theories and techniques of clinical laboratory science to produce reliable test results.
  • Aids clinicians in diagnosis and treatment by providing accurate test results.
  • Performs supervisory functions including administrative duties, personnel management, and problem resolution.
  • May have access to medication storage areas (excluding controlled substances).

Requirements

  • Shift: Every Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, one 8 hour day during the week, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

Qualifications

  • MT (ASCP): B.S. degree in Medical Technology or at least sixty semester hours of college with training in a certified Medical Technology training program. Must be currently registered and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
  • MT (Non-ASCP): B.S. degree in Medical Technology or at least sixty semester hours of college with training in a certified Medical Technology training program. Must be either eligible for the ASCP exam or Registered as a Medical Technologist with AMT. Some MT staff may be “grandfathered” as MT through experience and HEW exam.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate’s degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician and must be registered or eligible by ASCP or AMT.
  • At least two years work experience, preferably as a generalist. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates accountability in the correct performance of test procedures, reporting of accurate results, and the proper use of quality control materials.
  • Possesses full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
