Responsibilities

  • Follow Decostar policies and display conduct expected of Decostar employees as described in the employee handbook.
  • Ensure company policies and business objectives are followed in the daily supervision of operations.
  • Exhibit teamwork and leadership skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills in a work environment striving for continuous improvement.
  • Support all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.
  • Perform daily cross-functional job assignments as required and per department-established procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure a spirit of respect, cooperation, ethical conduct, and fair dealing in all operations between internal, external customers, and suppliers.
  • Direct and follow Decostar Industries health and safety policies and procedures to provide a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Exemplify the Charter principle for a safe and healthful workplace by correcting unsafe behaviors and reducing the possibility of employee injury due to hazardous conditions.
  • Respond proactively to any Decostar employee’s health and safety concern or suggestion.
  • Immediately report any accidents, incidents, or near misses to the Safety Department and complete required Accident Reporting Forms within 24 hours.
  • Complete all required safety-related inspections.
  • Do not install or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may jeopardize health and safety.
  • Ensure all employees under your guidance have received all required training to perform their job safely.
  • Manage all resources involved with paint mixing operations to achieve zero downtime and minimal waste directly associated with the paint line.
  • Maintain daily operating costs at a minimum by eliminating air or liquid leaks.
  • Maintain daily paint line scheduling coordination, preparation, and loading.
  • Coordinate with the paint supplier for receiving and/or unloading of paint materials.
  • Conduct paint and solvent tank inventory and record results at the beginning of the first shift and the end of the last shift after scheduled painting occurs.
  • Complete hazardous waste and trash disposal on each shift, ensuring all full and properly labeled hazardous waste containers are removed from the mix room.

Requirements

  • High School education.
  • Efficient in math skills relating to reduction ratios required for proper paint preparation, paint mixing, and monitoring formula stability in paint vessels.
  • Sufficient skills with general computer software operation and computer interface screens to verify systems operations, paint schedules, paint vessel fill levels, and documentation of paint consumption and inventory reporting.
  • Good hand-eye coordination for the use of viscosity cups and stop watches to determine paint viscosity.
  • Able to properly interpret daily paint schedule requirements and match the proper paints to ensure all requirements are prepared well in advance to avoid production interruptions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform work while sitting for up to eight (8) hours continuously.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or climb stairs for a minimum of eight (8) hours continuously.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds infrequently.
  • Good vision at a close distance as well as color acuity.
  • Capability of performing a full range of repetitive motion for up to eight (8) hours a day.

Training

You will receive ongoing training to perform your job concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement, and other job-specific training determined to be essential.
