About the role
In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886, support our food safety programs, and ensure the reliable delivery of superior quality, uniformity, and service. You will be responsible for the efficient delivery of dry mix from processing to packaging and the unloading of raw materials, while upholding the Mission, Motto, and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.
Responsibilities
- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company.
- Attend all required training sessions.
- Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit-ready condition.
- Prepare and supply premix or hand-weighed ingredients for production in compliance with company standards using acceptable Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Monitor and communicate the status of print weigh at all times, making recommendations to ensure print weighs are made correctly and are ready when needed.
- Lead the batching process and ensure a constant flow of mix to the packaging lines, including identifying and correcting root causes of downtime, making recommendations for system improvements, suggesting staffing changes, and recommending scheduling improvements to drive productivity.
- Meet or exceed processing standards as set by the company.
- Provide direction to processing employees and assist in the training and development of new employees.
- Maintain and correctly document food safety paperwork.
- Monitor all pull-off and rework added to the mixers to ensure compliance with the allergen control system.
- Maintain proper levels at ingredient hoppers.
- Assist in all processing areas as needed.
- Transfer ingredients from incoming bulk unloading vehicles into appropriate processing storage bins in compliance with company standards using Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Communicate with internal and external personnel to maximize productivity, facilitate timely ingredient deliveries, and minimize hold product.
- Safely operate equipment and perform rail switches using the track mobile.
- Coordinate all clean-outs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring the plant is in an everyday audit-ready state.
- Report any unsafe conditions or actions to company supervision immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with other processing lead employees and department employees to maximize productivity and minimize off-grade product.
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists, and other basic documentation. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Must use solid judgment when making decisions and have the ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

- Regularly exposed to conditions typical of a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions.
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection.
- Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
Schedule
5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday (Fridays as needed). Works assigned shift and overtime as required.
