Primary Job Responsibilities
- Loads scheduled rubber material onto mill by hand & operates mill to remove moisture from rubber stock
- Maintains milling equipment to ensure efficient operation & safety; adjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures & flow of materials
- Maintains color and surface characteristics of rubber on every batch; takes required samples; notifies supervisor when product does not meet required standards and/or there is a malfunction with the machinery
- Cuts down using knife until smooth appearance is achieved on product stock; slabs off, stacks & transports stock, as needed
- Cleans rubber from rollers for re-milling; sweeps mill pan at the end of each batch & keeps immediate area swept & clean at all times
- Records & maintains production data such as quantities, types, dimensions of materials produced, quality, etc.
Requirements of the Position
- Prior production experience with knowledge of materials, company machinery, operating protocols, etc. desired
- Knowledge of company’s safety programs & protocols
- Flexible & willing to work overtime; excellent attendance
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication & teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions, understand & follow work rules/procedures & make sound decisions
- Basic math, reading & writing skills are required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift between 50-80 lbs
- Ability to maneuver around an array of machinery
- Use of hands to finger, handle or feel
- Color & peripheral vision; depth perception & ability to adjust focus
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust and fumes, airborne particles and chemicals, extreme heat & loud noise level in some areas of the facility
- Ability to quickly respond to a signal when it appears
- Must be able to wear PPE (half mask respirator, safety glasses, steel toe shoes)
