Mill Operator I

About the role

The Doe Run Company seeks a Mill Operator I to assist in mill operations producing all finished concentrates. This rotating shift position is based at Sweetwater Mill in Ellington, MO, with potential for relocation within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventative maintenance tasks.
• Assist mill operators with mixing mill reagents.
• Maintain and clean work area.
• Complete all daily end-of-shift housekeeping tasks.
• Auxiliary in the processing of all finished concentrate products.
• Operate wheel loaders to load ore into the process and load concentrate trucks.
• Perform tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner.
• Report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations.
• Provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• No experience required, some industrial experience preferred.
• Experience operating skid steer loaders, forklifts, and larger loaders preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Ability to read a micrometer and a tape measure.
• Ability to safely drive a forklift or other mobile equipment and become certified (forklift).
• Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training (MSHA).
• Basic math skills.

Pay

$21.28/hour with a 5% targeted monthly bonus.

Rotating shifts.

Work Environment, Physical & Lifting

• Regularly works near moving, mechanical parts.
• Occasionally works in confined spaces.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, a respirator, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and eyewear.
• Works at heights of four feet or more with fall protection.
• Regularly exposed to vibration.
• Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extreme heat.
• Occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and extreme cold.
• Requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, reaching with hands/arms, and repetitive movement.
• Frequently requires feeling attributes of objects, grasping, pushing, and driving.
• Occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing or balancing.
• Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 100+ pounds.
