About the role

The Mitigation Technician performs mitigation and restoration services at residential and commercial properties affected by water, fire, mold, or storm damage. This role involves emergency response, damage assessment, equipment setup, demolition, monitoring drying progress, and ensuring work is completed according to industry standards and company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency water losses and perform mitigation services
  • Conduct inspections and assess water damage using moisture detection equipment
  • Extract standing water and remove damaged materials
  • Perform controlled demolition (drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinetry, etc.)
  • Set up and monitor drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers
  • Apply antimicrobial and cleaning treatments as required
  • Ensure job sites are safe, clean, and properly contained
  • Communicate with customers effectively regarding the restoration process
  • Load and maintain equipment and vehicles
  • Follow company procedures and IICRC standards
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response
  • Discuss proprietary programs like Master Moments, a customer service initiative focused on customer communications
  • Be prepared daily for scheduled jobs
  • Check and complete job tasks daily when work is completed
  • Work after hours and weekends on-call

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, crawlspaces, attics, and hazardous conditions
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to operate hand tools and restoration equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Professional demeanor and customer service skills
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening
  • Wear uniform per handbook
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and maintenance

Work Environment

This role functions within both field-based operational environments at residential and commercial properties and office settings. It entails regular daily travel throughout the designated territory to engage with customers and insurance partners at their respective locations. Employees may be exposed to hazardous environments requiring PPE such as respirators, gloves, and protective suits, as well as dust, debris, and damaged structures. On-call availability for major events may include possible travel out of state.

  • Sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods
  • Use standard office equipment including computers and mobile devices
  • Lift or carry materials up to approximately 50-75 pounds
  • Travel regularly within assigned territory
  • Perform fingering and repetitive motions, such as movement of wrists, hands, and fingers while picking, pinching, and typing
  • Exchange ideas with others quickly, accurately, and receive detailed information
  • Maintain close visual acuity for detail-oriented activities at close distances, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screens, and reading
  • Work inside environments with or without air conditioning and heating
  • Travel for short periods of time
