About the role

The Mississippi H&H Lead position is available for a highly motivated professional with proven leadership capabilities, strong communication skills, and a strategic approach to problem-solving. This individual will play a key role in the continued growth and success of Neel-Schaffer’s Water Resources Team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a variety of H&H studies and engineering projects
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions
  • Support business development efforts within the MS/AR regions
  • Collaborate closely with other state and regional H&H leaders
  • Foster consistency, innovation, and best practices across the company
  • Work alongside technical experts throughout Neel-Schaffer’s footprint
  • Provide exceptional service to clients and communities

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer in the state of Mississippi or Arkansas with the ability to become licensed in other states in the Southeast US
  • 10+ years of experience with technical work, project management, and staff management in Water Resources/Hydrology/Hydraulics
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical skills, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize
  • Advanced knowledge of the latest hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling programs, including GIS-based applications, 1D, 2D, dynamic/unsteady-flow – e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, PCSWMM, SMS, StormCAD, etc.
  • Experience with Microstation (and/or GEOPAK/OpenRoads), AutoCAD (and/or Civil 3D), and ArcGIS is preferred
  • Ability to perform a limited amount of field work, including drainage investigations, drainage asset inventorying, etc.
