Mission Systems Team Lead

About the role

The Global Security Engineering and Supply Chain (GSE&SC) contract supports the Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Bureau, Protective Technology Branch (DS/SSI/PTB). The Mission Systems Team Lead will ensure the readiness, security, and operational integrity of communications and electronic countermeasure equipment used in protective operations worldwide. This position bridges day‑to‑day technical supervision of Electronics Maintenance Technicians with programmatic and contractual oversight of the PTB Core Services contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical supervision and leadership to Electronics Maintenance Technicians.
• Oversee programmatic and contractual performance of the PTB Core Services contract.
• Maintain operational readiness of communications and electronic countermeasure equipment.
• Ensure compliance with DS/PTB technical and security standards.
• Coordinate field technician operations with program management to prevent degradation of technical quality control.
• Support travel to OCONUS critical‑threat locations, maintaining required clearances and medical qualifications.

Requirements

• Current Secret clearance (must be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI).
• Class I Medical Clearance for travel to high‑threat environments.
• U.S. citizenship.
• 10+ years of related experience, including at least 4 years hands‑on with Type 1 encrypted radios.
• Working knowledge of RF theory in electronic countermeasure environments.
• Ability to travel 10‑25% of the time.

Qualifications

• Operations Management experience.
• People Management and Team Leadership experience.
• Technical team leadership and operations management experience (minimum ten years).
• Hands‑on experience with Type 1 encrypted radios.
• RF theory knowledge applicable to electronic countermeasures.

Pay

Likely salary range: $127,500 – $172,500 (actual compensation based on experience, location, and contractual requirements).

• Scheduled weekly hours: 40
• Travel required: 10‑25%
• Telecommuting: Onsite (full‑flex work week available)
• Work location: Sterling, VA, USA (additional locations as needed)
