Mission Systems Engineering Cyber Lead

GDIT delivers technology solutions and mission services to U.S. government, defense, and intelligence agencies. This role supports USSTRATCOM, a Combatant Command responsible for strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, and enterprise IT services critical to national security, including Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Global Strike, and Missile Threat Assessments.

About the role

SCITLS ensures mission success and national security by providing 24/7 IT services and network support for NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, and SAP/SAR environments. You will contribute to:

• System Lifecycle & Engineering: Multi-disciplinary engineering, integration, sustainment, and life cycle management for GOC Mission Systems and USSTRATCOM Enterprise connectivity, ensuring security requirements are addressed across all phases.
• Cybersecurity Architecture & Risk Reduction: Cybersecurity artifact consolidation, system architecture assessment, risk reduction, and secure integration across personnel, hardware, software, and support facilities.
• Risk Management Framework (RMF) & Assessment Documentation: Development, review, evaluation, and endorsement of RMF system assessment documentation to provide written authorization recommendations to the AO, DAO, or Government Program Managers, while maintaining current and accessible system authorization documentation.
• Cyber Policy & Compliance: Expert input for formulating cybersecurity policies based on RMF, leveraging advanced knowledge of DoD, National, and service-level security standards.
• Strategic Studies & Engineer Support: IA expertise for technical studies, risk assessments, and evaluations to optimize organizational security posture and support planning, development, testing, and delivery of secure IT solutions for GOC Mission Systems.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and manage Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities.
• Conduct Security Test and Evaluations (ST&E) and maintain critical documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs) and POA&Ms.
• Provide expert knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity standards, frameworks, and RMF.
• Advise and communicate information security solutions adhering to DoD security policies, compliance mandates, and customer requirements to senior leaders.
• Conduct periodic assessments of systems, networks, and enclaves to validate security controls and identify configuration deviations.
• Evaluate, validate, and mitigate cybersecurity risks, tracking remediation efforts using tools such as eMASS, XACTA, ACAS, and Remedy.
• Ensure network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), servers, and access control lists are properly configured, patched, and compliant with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Oversee and guide cybersecurity personnel in system analysis, patch management, and Cyber Tasking Order compliance to minimize insider threats and security risks.
• Support ongoing security investigations, periodic audits, hardware/software research, and integration of new technologies.
• Occasional briefings to audiences up to and including General Officer/Senior Executive Service level.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in a related field; may be substituted for additional years of experience.
• 10+ years of related experience.
• Current/active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• ITIL 5 Foundation certification within 9 months of start date.
• Upon start date, certification commensurate with DoD 8140 Workforce (e.g., SEC+/SecurityX, CASP+, CCSP, CGRC/CAP). Preferred certifications: CISSP, CASP, CISM, CGRC.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Proven ability to implement RMF, manage A&A activities, conduct ST&E, and maintain documentation like SSPs and POA&Ms.
• Strong capability to advise on information security solutions adhering to DoD security policies and compliance mandates.
• Proficiency in conducting periodic assessments of systems, networks, and enclaves.
• Experience evaluating, validating, and mitigating cybersecurity risks using tools such as eMASS, XACTA, ACAS, and Remedy.
• Hands-on experience ensuring network devices, servers, and access control lists are compliant with STIGs.
• Comfort with public speaking and briefing senior leadership.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $129,813 - $161,000. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements.
