Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mission communications service requests and facilitate interactions between mission teams and network subject matter experts
  • Track mission communications and integration status throughout mission development and implementation
  • Support mission transition activities from development into network operations
  • Perform engineering analyses related to spacecraft communications performance, including link budget, coverage, RF compatibility, and related communications analyses
  • Conduct network loading, capacity, and utilization assessments supporting mission planning and operational decision-making
  • Develop technical reports, presentation materials, memoranda, and engineering products summarizing analyses, recommendations, and findings
  • Assess mission communications supportability across NASA SCaN and commercial communications architectures
  • Identify technical constraints, operational risks, and recommended mitigation approaches
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering analysis tools, models, datasets, and analytical methods
  • Maintain technical data, assumptions, and analytical products using configuration management practices
  • Support readiness reviews, technical interchange meetings, status reporting, and action item resolution
  • Support spectrum planning and coordination activities related to communications system compatibility and spectrum sharing
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to resolve mission integration issues and support successful mission execution

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant professional experience in spacecraft communications, mission analysis, systems engineering, RF engineering, aerospace systems, software development, or related technical disciplines
  • Experience performing technical analysis and developing engineering products that support mission or operational decision-making
  • Ability to manage multiple technical assignments and coordinate across organizations in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required
  • Graduate research or advanced degrees may be considered toward a portion of the experience requirement where applicable

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting spacecraft communications, mission integration, systems engineering, or mission operations
  • Working knowledge of spacecraft communications concepts including link budgets, coverage analysis, RF compatibility, and network operations
  • Familiarity with satellite orbital dynamics, mission design, and mission operations concepts
  • Familiarity with NASA space communications networks including the Near Space Network (NSN), Deep Space Network (DSN), Space Relay (SR), or Direct-to-Earth (DTE) communications
  • Experience using engineering and analytical tools such as MATLAB, Python, STK, GMAT, C#, or similar platforms
  • Experience developing technical reports, engineering presentations, and briefing materials for technical and management audiences
  • Ability to independently execute technical tasks while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience supporting technical reviews, readiness assessments, or mission planning activities
  • Familiarity with spectrum planning, frequency coordination, or communications compatibility analysis

Pay

Salary: $85,000 - $101,000 (based on experience)
