Mission Delta 9 Cyberspace Operations Instructor

About the role

Sigmatech is seeking experienced Cyberspace instructors / Subject Matter Experts (SME) to support the Mission Delta 9 training team located at Schriever SFB, CO. The instructors will be instrumental in training guardians to detect anomalies, analyze complex systems, and reinforce network security to safeguard high-value missions. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about building guardians capable of solving challenging problems and contributing to national security within a collaborative, mission-driven team.

Ideal candidates may have experience in formal military instructor programs, Cyber Protection, SOC, CSIRT, Incident Response, Vulnerability Assessment, or Blue/Red team roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead course development, updates, and primary instruction for the 69 Cyberspace Squadron (CYS) training.
• Transform existing mission system documentation into formal courses that are Instructional Systems Design (ISD) compliant.
• Develop, review, and maintain Programs of Instruction (POI), lesson plans, practical exercises, assessments, student materials, and courseware.
• Serve as the Cyber subject matter expert, ensuring curriculum accuracy, relevancy, and alignment with evolving Mission Delta 9 Cyber requirements.
• Instruct guardians on analyzing network behavior, investigating anomalies, and identifying vulnerabilities to recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain close coordination with mission partners to ensure training reflects current operational needs.
• Assist with policy development and additional tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility at time of application.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
• IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security, GSEC).
• Familiarity with DAFH 36-2675, instructional systems design (ISD), ADDIE methodology, or formal military instructor certification programs.
• Ability to teach in a classroom setting, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to convey complex concepts effectively to facilitate an interactive learning experience.
• Proficiency in creating training materials using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with network defense technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection).
• Proficient in network protocol analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump) and SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Kibana).
• Experience in vulnerability scanning, incident response, and threat hunting.
• Familiarity with Linux-based server and user environments, including troubleshooting and security configurations.
• Familiarity with DoD cyber security frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53) and system defense-in-depth architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CEH, or other GIAC certifications.

Pay

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $125,000 to $140,000. Sigmatech considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, experience, education/training, key skills, location, and often contractual requirements.
