Primary Responsibility

Eaton Corporation’s Electrical Sector in Sumter, SC is seeking a Production Associate, Pan Sub‑Assembly in Switchboard on B Shift. In this role you will correctly select and install, in accordance with drawings, diagrams, and blueprints, various components and devices to achieve timely order fulfillment while adhering to Eaton’s quality standards. You will manufacture custom‑ordered switchboards, communicate and collaborate with team members, and meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

Essential Functions

• Contribute to a safe, engaged and inclusive work culture by complying with all policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment, equipment operation, and performing 5S duties.
• Exhibit strong adherence to quality by continually seeking improvement methods for all functions of the position.
• Ensure quality criteria are met by reviewing documents, conducting assembly, and employing the switchboard quality verification checklist.
• Work from manufacturing information such as front views, bills of material, drawings, blueprints, order entry systems, and oral or written instructions to assemble switchboards/panelboards and proactively identify missing components.
• Select, install, and label components/devices in accordance with drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Utilize various hand tools to accurately install material while closely following established procedures.
• Maintain expected progress of jobs in the assigned area and communicate problem areas or part shortages.
• Be responsible for quality, including visual inspections of material before and after assembly, identifying non‑conforming parts, and troubleshooting errors.
• Perform special assignments and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• No relocation benefit; only candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of the Sumter facility will be considered.
• Preferred: manufacturing or operations experience; experience with measuring devices (e.g., tape measure, calipers); some assembly experience requiring drawings or diagrams.

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication, persuasive, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in a team environment.
• Proficiency with various hand tools to assemble, cable, and verify quality in low‑voltage switchboard enclosures/assemblies in a Lean environment.
• Ability to read and comprehend front views, one‑line diagrams, bills of material, tape measures, and pick sheets.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands.
• Frequently required to stoop, lift, carry, push, pull, and grip; lift/carry up to 35 lb and push/pull 35 lb or greater, with or without accommodation.
• Vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination.
• Regular communication required while performing duties.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to noise.
• Frequent exposure to dust.

Pay

Hourly rate: $16.00 per hour. Position is eligible for a variable incentive program. Salary information is a general guideline and may vary based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

Schedule

Shift hours: 3 p.m. – 1 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
